Match ReportPetersfield 20 – 20 Old Pauline FC

League Match - London South West 4

On a windy Saturday afternoon the Old Pauline’s ventured out to Petersfield, for what looked to be a tasty bottom half of the table clash. To make a nice change the team arrived in plenty of time and were able to admire the ample changing facilities and the interesting angle the pitch was set at. It soon came to light that there were only going to be 15 of us for the match as Clarke Jnr. reportedly injured his neck in the gym the night before, personally I think Scotty pulled to hard on his lead whilst playing dominatrix. The second casualty was Rijan Slater, who had hoped to recover from a dead ass in time for the match, however one too many hits from Scotty’s studded spank paddle ruled him out. Losing these two rather large forwards was a blow but what was lost in size, was more than matched in mobility.

News: TIME TO KICK START THE SEASON

News

To say that it has not been an easy first couple of months of the season would be something of an understatement. For spectators, the World Cup is a fantastic spectacle and many of us went through every emotion as we watched England’s progress to the final, but for a club trying to field six teams each week, it is an absolute nightmare. Add to that an unusually high number of injuries and unavailability and a lack of experienced front-row forwards, and it has all resulted in a difficult start.

And overshadowing it all was the tragic news of Mike Freeman’s untimely death – he will be much missed. It was good to see such a good turn out from the club at Mike’s funeral and we were delighted that Mike junior could join us for lunch before the Warlingham game.

Match Report Old Pauline 1st XV 13 Old Wellingtonians 1st XV 23

Saturday 20th October 2007

Match report by Evsy

London South West Division 4 League Game

The 1st XV lost their 3rd game in the league following a close encounter with old rivals Wellies, who pulled away with a strong second half effort at TD. The World Cup again had a big effect on the team and led to a stuttered display, especially in the lineout. After arranging an early kick off of 2pm to allow Wellies to go to a girly sock convention, OPs started poorly allowing 2 early tries before I’d even turned up.

Trigs kicked a penalty in reply meaning OPs had a lot of work to do. But they upped the tempo and the front row started to put pressure on the OWs scrum. After good work from the base, Chris Clark fed Dave Ryan who put Owen Bowen into enough space to flop over in the corner – OPs first try of the league campaign, unfortunately Rod missed it on his video camera.
