There will be a one-day course in First Aid at the club on Monday 29th March

All club members are welcome to attend, but the course will be especially relevant for Players, Referees, Coaches and club Duty Officers. The title of the course is First Aid for Health Professionals in Sport and delegates receive training in a range of first aid subjects, including:

  • Legalities of First Aid: Duty and Standard of Care, professional obligation and scope of practice
  • The Primary Survey in sport and exercise: AcBCDE
  • Basic Life Support with adjuncts: Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2005, Adult and Paeds algorithims; AED demo
  • Sudden Death Syndrome: incidence of HCM and other pathologies in athletic populations
  • Assessment and management of the unconscious casualty: GCS vs AVPU
  • Latest perspectives in head injury/concussion assessment: CogSport, Maddocks, SAC
  • Assessment and management of neck injury: NEXUS, Canadian C-spine rule
  • Management of trauma, medical and environmental scenarios: case studies and open forum
On completion of the course delegates receive the nationally-recognised 'Emergency First Aid at Work' certificate, valid for 3 years (please note: the Health and Safety Executive strongly advises annual refresher training).

The course is run by ABC First Aid and the course leader is Tony Bennison

The course is free to members of OPFC; cost is £40 for non members.

To reserve your place, please contact John Howard on 07729 265286 or by e mail
