Clean sweep across the board |

Posted on Monday, September 15 @ 12:11:23 BST by jacksonc |
Well - an excellent start to the first week of the league season.
Starting at the top of the pile; the 1s pulled off an excellent win against Farnham, old friends from London 4, with Sam Bennett going over for this 2nd try in 2 games and Fez made sure of the extras.
Fez also decided to add a bit of extra spice to his kicking, hitting a penalty which came off both posts. Andy Reynolds topped off a good win by receiving man of the match and celebrating his birthday all on the same day, so we are sure he was pretty sober on Saturday night.
Next week – Croydon at home.
The 2s got their league campaign off in style with a barnstorming 65-3 win against Farnham 2s. (I guess it was probably a case whatever the 1s can do - the 2s can do better!) Pritch scored a hat trick and Darren on debut scored 25 points (2 tries, 6 cons, 1 pen).
Other try scorers were Alan x 2, Tim x 2 and Ricky. All in all, a good day at the office.
MOM: Darren –Next week Warlingham away
The new looking 3s, now reshuffled with the promotion of the 5s, started off the season with a 37-0 win against Teddington. The real plus point was the defensive application as no points were conceded, hard running saw the tries come in from Loic, Ben, newcomer Weeny, Andy and Will. This was topped off with 3 conversions and 2 penalties from Full back Sammy.
MOM was the ever dynamic Loic. - Next week Camberley Away.
The 4ths had no merit league opposition as Weybridge had to cancel; so instead a newly formed Merton 3rd team hosted them.
A large score of 98-0 fell in OPs favour, though Powelly, captain of the OP 4ths, expressed that the Merton side were far better than suggested, but great off loading and a strong pre season gave the 4ths a good platform to attack with.
Some of the scorers were Paddy, Brynne (hat trick), Dave Harrison, Coxy, Powelly, Vann and newcomer David Richard who also got MOM.
Next week - Cobham 3rd at home.
So onwards and upwards - lets keep it going....
