News1) ELVs

Right then - the new season approaches and you are somewhat flummoxed by the new rules.

"What?" I hear you say. "It's not 4 points for a try anymore?"

Er, no actually, that changed 17 years ago. What we are talking about are the ELVs - Experimental Law Variations.

Make sure you are up to speed on them by taking a peak at this Q & A , or for the full rundown, have a look here .

2) OPs annual season warm up/ trials - Saturday 30th August 2008

The annual trials all kick off in a couple of weeks - Saturday 30th August - so dust off the boots, find that old strapping, and, er, be ready.

Please be at TD for 1.30pm to kick off the new season with a little bit of rugby followed by a whole lot more burgers and beers.

Dates for diary:

30 Aug – Club Day

6 Sept – Friendlies

13 Sept – League games all round.

NewsYou’ve Got To Be In It To Win It

The Rugby Football Union wants everyone involved in rugby union in England to work together to create the best possible competition structure for the game.

To ensure that the “rugby landscape” below Level 3 serves the needs of everyone, the RFU is inviting all involved to join them in a wide ranging consultation process.

“We want to make sure that as many people as possible take part in our consultation so that any change in our competition structure reflects the views, aspirations and wishes of the entire game,” says John Owen, the RFU’s Junior Vice President and Chairman of the Rugby Landscape Task Group.

From July 1st for a period of four weeks there will be an Online Survey to bring in views so that “we get the competition structure right to sustain our member clubs for the future,” says Owen.

After a full analysis of the questionnaire replies, there will be a stakeholders’ forum, following which recommendations will be drawn up and presented to the RFU Management Board and Council.

Visit the Rugby Landscape Survey to be part of the new rugby landscape.

Tournament Report by The Winners - Team Hoff

“Some people stand in the darkness, afraid to step into the light”…

…This was most certainly not the case on this glorious day at Ditton Cove. The door was flung open and out galloped (in slow mo) our heroes, led by Hoff Hoff, followed by Hoff-Ed, PK Hoff, Hoff Harrison, Quick&Ripped Hoff, Hoff-pert, Hoff-Johnson, Hoff-Thompson, Jewish Hoff and finally the (Adams) apple of all our eyes.. the sensuous pa-me-la.

It was a sight to behold and the other teams competing in the annual beach flex-off tourno were in awe. The sun beamed down on our heroes and those who came to watch knew they were in for some hot action.
